BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF THE HONORABLE
ADDISON T. SMITH
US Congressman. He
graduated in 1885 from George Washington University's law department
, and then graduated from the National Law School in 1896, was admitted to the District of Columbia bar in 1899. and to the Idaho bar in 1905. He was secretary to Senator George Laird Shoup 1891 to 1901 and to Senator Weldon B. Heyburn 1903 to 1912. From 1904 to 1911, he was secretary to the Republican State central committee of Idaho and register of the United States land office at Boise, Idaho, in 1907 and 1908. He was a member of the Republican National congressional committee 1917 to 1927. In 1913, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-third and to the nine succeeding Congresses serving until 1933. He served as associate member of the Board of Veterans' Appeals of the Veterans' Administration from 1934 until his retirement in 1942. He died of lung cancer.
